One of my favorite things about living in Santa Monica is the beach, it’s just a short 20 minute walk away or a 10 minute bike ride from where I now live. There is something so peaceful and calm about the ocean, it just relaxes you. Spring days on the beach are wonderful and I enjoy taking naps, snacking and bringing a small picnic on those days when you just need a break. What better way to take a break than with a glass of good wine? I was thrilled to be able to try out Ribera y Rueda wine, wine deliveries are the best, right? Something about opening a box with two bottles of wine just made me smile instantly.
Keep outdoor snacking simple with just a couple kinds of cheese, crackers, some grapes and nuts. Assorted wood cutting boards make perfect serving plates and since it’s just finger food, you don’t need plates.
Ribera y Rueda wine is Spanish and comes from the Ribera del Duero and Rueda regions in northwest Spain, only an hour from Madrid. The Rueda wine region specializes in production of the Verdejo grapes that thrive during hot days and cool nights. Rueda is the #1 white wine on the market in Spain and is known for its sharp acidity, complexity and vibrant fruit. Meanwhile the Ribera del Duero region produces Tempranillo grapes and is known as the #2 red wine in Spain. The wine is fruity and deep with flavor.
I would love to visit Spain one day, Madrid and Barcelona are two places I would like to see. But maybe the trip would involve a little winery visit as well. Ribera y Rueda wines are all about popping open a bottle for an outdoor soirée, a night on the couch or an unexpected food pairing – Ribera y Rueda wines say Sí to it all! I can get on board with saying Sí too!
You can learn more about Ribera y Rueda wines on their Tumblr page for wine pairing suggestions, a product locator and even a wine-themed playlist!
It is so nice to be able to enjoy the beautiful spring weather in California and I hope you are enjoying outdoor activities after a winter of saying no to everything but the blanket and staying in.
The red wine is best enjoyed after you allow it to breath.
Beautiful Santa Monica, believe it or not it was a very cloudy day for a picnic.
