Trash can or waste basket? It doesn’t matter what you call it, it’s not a glamorous item. Our bathroom waste basket is wicker. Wicker looks much nicer than plastic trash bins but I elevated ours one step further with the help of an old belt. Belts are one of those items that I easily seem to accumulate over time. They don’t take up a lot of space so I often hold on to them even when they don’t fit anymore, they are perfect for little projects like this.
This is a simple DIY upgrade that can be done in just minutes! If you want a more permanent solution, you can glue the belt to the basket. However the wicker gives the belt a nice textured surface to adhere to and it won’t slide down when it’s adjusted. My tiny belt was a perfect fit! This is an easy way to add a touch of equestrian style to your home.
I use to wear this belt at 4-H shows during my english days of competition. It certainly doesn’t fit around my hips anymore and the only way I can wear it is if I do a high waist. But now it’s the perfect belt accessory.

Our wicker waste basket lives in the bathroom but it was much more exciting to take some styled photos of it instead of a basket by the toilet. I love this simple DIY that anyone can do. Unlike my DIY Horse Head Succulent holder, this is a level one project.
The end result is classy and elegant. Try this with a snaffle bit belt, horse head belt, or even just a plain leather belt. It’s a thoughtful detail that won’t go unnoticed by your guests.
