Ever since I announced my pregnancy, I’ve received a lot of unsolicited advice. Equestrians are known for their bold comments and suggestions, but they have nothing on moms. In my recent experience, you can read all the books, listen to everyone’s stories but ultimately, your tiny human is going to dictate your journey. Everyone’s pregnancy, birth story and life with a newborn is so different.
When it came to buying baby stuff, I took a minimalist approach when it came to planning. Our house is small and the baby changes so much as they grow. I’m aware many items will be used for short periods of time. Once I began to settle into a routine after London came home we started to realize some items were much more useful than others.
I’m sharing my most used and loved items for my newborn (she’s now 7 weeks old at the time of this post). Read on to shop my affiliate links and learn why I recommend each item.
Dreamegg White Noise Machine, Shop Now >
White noise helps both you and your baby sleep better. It mimics the sounds of being in a noisy womb, plus it’s one of our bedtime signals for London. It helps my husband and I sleep better and tune out the sounds of one of us moving about our room when we are taking care of her in the middle of the night. We love it so much, we are getting one for our room after London moves out of ours.
BabyBjörn Carrier in Dusty Pink, Shop Now >
I added this carrier to my baby registry because it was beautiful, but I also had a feeling baby wearing was going to be very helpful. When London wants to contact nap and I need to do chores, pack up candle orders or just have two hands available, the carrier is a lifesaver. London snuggles into my chest and I am able to get my work done.
HALO Sleepsack, Shop Now >
This is another must have item for getting the best sleep possible and part of our bedtime routine. You can use the sleep sack with or without arms out. Right now we are snuggling London like a little burrito before bed. It keeps her warm, secure and feeling safe to sleep in her bassinet with minimal disturbances.
Dream on Me Rock with me 2-in-1 Rocker and Stationary Seat, Shop Now >
I bought this seat about a month after London was born. It’s another helpful item when I need to have a hands free moment or can’t entertain her. Right now I hang different toys on the bar to amuse her, move her around the house when I’m cooking, taking a shower, etc. Sometimes she’ll calmly sit and stare or the vibrations will put her to sleep and she’ll take a nap.
Ubbi Steel Odor Locking Diaper Pail, Shop Now >
The most beautiful and necessary award goes to our pink diaper pail gifted from our registry. It’s self explanatory, but you don’t need any special bags with this pail which is a bonus.
I hope you find this short list helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the recommendations and products out there for you and your baby.
