SO GUESS WHAT?!???
I QUIT MY DAY JOB : )
I decided it was a blog worthy announcement & kind of big deal.
I know a lot of you are probably like, “day job, I never heard you mention a job before”, “what??” or maybe “I just thought you were a rich blogger” – that one is pretty funny. You see I started Horses & Heels a little over two years ago with the intention of building it into something much bigger & it is getting there. I can’t tell you how many hours a week I’ve worked these past couple of years blogging & answering emails late into the night & sneaking away on my lunch breaks to do posts or research. It was exhausting but I never once mentioned how tired I was or how much I hated my job. So here I am finally able to take the next step, this move is a very bold an exciting one for me. What it means it that I can maintain a five-day a week posting schedule & even more great features. If you thought Horses & Heels was good before, just wait until you see what I have up my sleeve, those extra forty hours a week are going to come in handy! I’m going to spend more time developing Glitter by Horses & Heels as well. I normally don’t discuss the politics or my own thoughts about blogging so I thought now would be a good time to share a few things.
What does this mean for readers?
Email subscribers only are going to be getting weekly promo codes & discounts at awesome stores – welcome to the VIP club!
There are going to be several new features on the blog, better content, better photos & more sneak peaks of design lines.
Better photos, more outfit posts & product reviews!
Can we say more cowboy boot giveaways???
My advice for anyone who wants to become a full-time blogger:
Blog about what you love & do it because it is fun – for me I always loved scrapbooking & I think of it as my “online scrapbook”. You will never make it full-time if you just want to do it for money & fame.
Be consistent with your content, your opinions & become a reliable source for your readers. If one day you say that you hate pink & the next day you are wearing a ton of pink in an outfit post, it throws up a red flag – do you really mean what you say or did you just feel like saying it that day?
You are never too big or too good for anyone. Check any attitude or snobbery at the door.
Don’t worry about what other bloggers are doing, focus on yourself & what you are doing. It’s so easy to feel like everyone around is having a lot of success & forget about your own.
Never forget the people who helped you when you first started out, relationships mean everything.
You’re in the public eye, so act like it. We all have bad days, moments & times when we feel like screaming. Your blog isn’t a place to vent (unless it’s about venting & that is what you do) always keep things positive.
Calling out the myths.
Bloggers lives are always perfect. NOT. It might seem like good things are always happening or that I’m always shopping but it’s what I choose to show here. This blog is a place for fun & happiness so I don’t disclose negative areas of my life. You read this blog for fashion, fun, horses & recipes & fabulousness. I would never put anything less than that on here.
If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them for you : )
