Spring is finally coming and here in California flowers are already blooming, people are planting and warm weather is already upon us. But I still wanted to bring that spring feeling inside the home. It’s amazing how much a few plants can improve the appearance of your space. I feel like for the first time in a long time I am getting caught up and am able to spend time on decorating the new apartment here in Santa Monica one little section at a time. This is part of my book shelf project and I thought I would share a few photos.
I wanted to create a terrarium and pot a couple of low maintenance succulents and cactus plants. They are a perfect way to bring in a little greenery. You only need a few supplies and about twenty minutes of extra time. I picked up so cactus soil so my terrarium didn’t need a layer of gravel on the bottom and painted some decorative rocks gold to give my terrarium a modern feel.
The only thing no one tells you about creating a terrarium is that it might take you a few times to get the dirt and plants at the level you desire. You can use gloves for handling for handling cacti plants but I found it much easier to use a pair of tongs.
Watch out for this prickly guy!

A much improved space with plants.
Are you adding any new greenery for spring?
