Saddle up for an adventure in the Vasquez Rocks!
Last Sunday my friend Robyn and I headed out for an adventure. It was Fira’s first time being hauled since she’s arrived in the Rancho. I was extremely nervous in the morning, wondering how she would load and handle the trip. The short answer – like a pro. I was so happy with how well behaved Fira was for her first trip away.
I’m sharing a handful of my favorite photos from the experience.
The Vasquez Rocks
The Vasquez Rocks are located in the 932-acre park located in the Sierra Pelona Mountains in northern Los Angeles County, California. The rocks and terrain is absolutely beautiful. It’s horse, dog, and hiker friendly!
The iconic rocks have been featured in many movies, television shows, and commercials.
Ready to ride! Robyn had been here before for a ride a while ago and a photo shoot. She was the perfect trail guide. There was plenty of trailer parking in the back and a large group of riders getting ready to go out when we arrived.
If Fira was nervous about being in a new place, she did not show it thanks for her bestie. Fira and Icecream have gone on several rides together. Fira loves every horse she meets, but especially Icecream. These two are so comfortable together and extremely sweet to one another.
We took a lot of photos. 🙌🏻
Shop My Outfit
I’m wearing the October Sky Kimono from Rod’s, Coral hat from Amazon, Quay sunglasses, and Tecovas Jaimie boots. My pink Coach belt bag is available online in a similar style as well.
Fira’s 5 Star Pad and Classic Equine Cinch are linked as well.
I rode in my Pozzi Pro for the first time in about a month with my new 5-Star Pad – guess what? Her sweat pattern was perfect after our ride.
There was only one area that Fira didn’t like – a shallow bit of water and larger rock. She spooked at it and didn’t want to cross for a few minutes. Eventually she relaxed and decided it was safe.
Fira with her bestie. Robyn and I have an absolute blast when we go out riding together. I’m so thankful to have met her on Instagram.
If you live in Southern California, I absolutely recommend doing this ride. There are a lot of trails to explore. It gets hot out there and there are no water troughs – make sure you bring water for the horses and yourself. Stay hydrated!
Photos really don’t do justice to the landscape, but here is a good photo with the horse verses rock for scale.
Have you ever been to the Vasquez Rocks? What’s your favorite trail?
