Looking for a chic way to store your safety matches and light up candles? Try up cycling an old jar or favorite vessel and turn it into a new match holder.
I took one of my empty Luxe Barn candle jars from Stable Style, cleaned it out and added strike paper to the bottom of the candle jar. The result is a stunning vessel to display that’s also functional. As a horse girl, this is one of my favorite ways to reuse Stable Style candle jars. Strike paper comes in round or strips of paper with an adhesive background, making it easy to apply.
I used 100 pink tipped 4″ safety matches to fill up my jar. You can also use black or white tipped 4″ matches for your jar, but I decided I wanted a pop of color.
This is the prettiest jar full of pink tipped safety matches.
Tips for Cleaning out a Candle Jar
There a several methods to remove the remaining wax from a candle jar, but I prefer burning it down and using a little hot water to warm and remove the remaining wax. Once the excess wax is removed, wash and clean out any soot or burn marks from the jar with ease.
I hope you enjoy this fun and easy up cycle project at home. I love my new Stable Style match holder.
