Photos don’t do this magnificent superbloom justice!
A Magical Superbloom
Yesterday Adam and I took the morning off and drove out to the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve in Lancaster, California. The drive was just over an hour from our house. California’s superbloom has been making headlines lately – it’s one of the best blooms in years because of the rain and cool temperatures we had earlier in the year. There are millions of flowers scattered about the hills.
The superbloom has several locations throughout SoCal. There is the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park near San Diego, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park, Lake Elsinore, and many more. The flowers are expected to last through the end of April.
The conditions in Antelope Valley were very windy and it was a little chilly. Because of this, not all the poppies were open.

What I Wore
I thought this would be the perfect place to wear my colorful pom pom top with stretchy denim and my favorite fringe shoes. My hat almost flew off a dozen times thanks to the wind. I’ve linked my outfit below.
I took all of these photos with my phone and while the iPhone X does an amazing job, it really doesn’t do justice to the beauty here. The poppies were swaying in the wind the entire time and it was unreal.
The colors were vivid and bright. The trails winded in and out of the poppies, providing the opportunity for an amazing views from every angle.
Parking is $10 but we opted to park on the road and walk up because of the long line of cars. By the time we were leaving, officers were directing cars to park on the road because the lot filled up. If you can go, try to visit on a week day to avoid the crowds. Learn more about Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve online.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy these beautiful flowers if you live in California!
