Are you counting down the days until Easter? Or are your kids begging you to color eggs? Why not get started this weekend with some fun horse themed eggs. I was thrilled when I discovered that I would be able to use my foam horses for yet another DIY project (see them in DIY stamps ). You can pick these up at your local craft store and they have tons of other animals and shapes just in case horses aren’t your thing.
I used neon food coloring to make pink, purple, green and turquoise dye. Color your eggs and stick a foam horse on top of it. It’s that simple! The foam gives these eggs a big impact with little effort.
I originally had the idea of sticking a horse on a colored egg and then dipping it into another color for a stamped effect, but that was not successful. My horses looked like skinny dogs with no heads. I don’t recommend trying that, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!
I love these brightly colored eggs! I played with different colored food coloring and drizzled some over the eggs before sticking them into the dye to create speckled and colorful designs.
If you do end up making some of these Horses & Heels inspired Easter eggs, share photos on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with me and use Hashtag #HorsesandheelsDIY.
