I can’t believe I’m even calling brussels sprouts amazing… up until a few months ago you would never get me near one of these! But then I went to a nice restaurant & ordered their gourmet mac & cheese, to my surprise it had brussels sprouts in it… & I loved them. I thought that I had to try making them with my own flair because maybe it was just the cheese the that made them taste good?
I’ve been making these the same way once or twice a week for a month now, just call me crazy but you have to try them my way even if you don’t like brussels sprouts, I’ll make you love them!
Ingredients
- 3 cups brussels sprouts, halved
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
Instructions
- Add brussels sprouts, black pepper, garlic salt & 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a skillet.
- Cook over a low heat allowing the brussels sprouts to brown on each side before flipping them.
- After about 10 minutes add 1 more tablespoon of olive oil & seasoned bread crumbs.
- Cook for another 10 minutes, flipping occasionally.
- The edges should be browned.

Glad you enjoyed them Jen! Thanks for the feedback!
Lucinda says
Are they sufficiently covered with just adding crumbs in pan??
Raquel says
Yes, that worked for me! Be generous with the bread crumbs if you don’t think you are getting enough.

I absolutely LOVED this recipe. I followed it exactly and they came out excellent. My husband, however, is slightly veggie-phobic and he’s a cheese-aholic. So I added a few dashes of Parmesan cheese and seriously– they were so great. I’m not a huge parm cheese fan, but it made such a difference that I felt compelled to comment. Thanks for the recipe!!! You made my husband eat (and ENJOY eating) brussel sprouts, which says a lot. 🙂
Raquel Lynn says
Thanks for giving them a try Katie and not giving up on your husband ; ) I was not a brussels sprouts lover until a couple of years ago. I can imagine they would be great with parmesan cheese so I might have to try that next time!
Lindsay says
Anybody know how many servings this is?
Raquel Lynn says
Lindsay, it’s about 4 servings.
Cindie says
I’d love to try brussel sprouts (weird, huh?) but they’re a little pricey. Can frozen sprouts be successfully substituted?
Raquel Lynn says
Hi Cindie, I assume that the frozen brussels sprouts would probably taste just as good. But I don’t know if the texture would be the same. I say go for it and give it a try though!
Heather says
I just made these with a bag of frozen sprouts, I microwaved them for 3 min just to soften them so I could cut them up easily. I used coconut oil instead of olive oil and Parmesan cheese instead of bread crumbs and they did get nice and crispy.

I just tried these tonight and yeah, this recipe is a total keeper. GET IN MAH BELLEH!!!!!

Good! I’m so glad to hear it : ) Thanks for trying them JoJo.
Keeley says
Looks yummy! Any idea how many calories there are in this recipe?? Thanks!
Regan says
Keeley, I saved this recipe into MyFitnessPal and it matched all of the ingredients. it is 189 calories per serving with 4 servings in this recipe. 100 of the calories are from the bread crumbs so I may try cutting that in half and seeing if that is enough for it to still be delightful. Additionally, a lot of the calories are from the olive oil, but since that is a healthy fat, that doesn’t really concern me 🙂 Hope this helps!

I found thrm to be a bit salty. I think next time I’ll use plain bread crumbs, I also cooked them in coconut oil and cut them in half.
Ulli says
I’m like you…used to absolutely hate them with a passion, goes all the way back to my childhood. dared to take small bite when we went to dinner one night and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but they were actually really good, not bitter at all. with that being said, this recipe sounds delicious and I will try it for sure.

Any idea for a Vegan meal using the Best Brussel Sprout recipe?
ali301 says
These were very salty. Cut it down to 1/2 tsp and make sure your seasoned breadcrumbs don’t have additional salt.
Trisha says
So good I shared on my facebook and Instagram. Can’t wait to cook again. Simple, fast and yummy!!!!
Sherry Smith says
Try roasting them. Cut in half, salt & pepper. Put a little butter & olive oil in the pan, roast until brown on the flat side. Don’t over cook. Best when little crunchy.
